A complete feasibility study for the possible development of a Maritime Museum on the Droogdokkensite in the Port of Antwerp.
Rather than a Maritime Museum, we prefer calling it a Maritime Park. Museum implies one building which provides an instant total-experience, yet this site holds the potential of a landscape with different buildings, objects, tools and ships bound to form one significant parcours. As a concept, a landscape leaves room for different and innovative display methods and allows its visitors to roam and explore freely. By exploiting the outside as exhibition space, the site itself intensifies the experience: it once again becomes the backdrop, revealing the maritime past of this phenomenal place.
